Swamy bats for 50 states, starting with T !

Holding the Union Home Minister P Chidambaram responsible for non- bifurcation of the state, Janata Party president Dr Subramanian Swamy, on Thursday, said since the minister had gone back on his promise he should be put in a jail in Telangana.

Speaking to the media at a national-level seminar on new states and social justice, Dr Swamy said that he would implead if any one files a case either in the High Court or the Supreme Court on the T issue and promised his continued support for Telangana till it was formed.

Dr Swamy was of the opinion that the country should be divided into 50 states and that should begin with Telangana. “If there can be eight Hindi speaking states why not two Telugu speaking states, he said. Referring to the Srikrishna Committee report, he said, he did not agree with their findings that bifurcation of the State would endanger the internal security of the State. Going back on the promise made to the people of Telangana amounts to violation of human rights, Dr Swamy said.
